Tie-back of a 1,1 km long sheet pile wall along a planned additional rail track outside the Ringsted train station

The addition of a new rail track east of Ringsted’s train station brought about the need to remove the downward sloping embankment and replace it with a sheet pile wall. We were entrusted with the task of anchoring the 1,1 km long wall in the given building ground.

With a work platform of no more than 4 m in width (see Image 1) due to the immediate proximity to the ongoing railroad traffic, we executed our works with two new drill rigs of type Klemm KR 802-3 and KR 803-3 especially equipped with shortened drill masts for this task. All materials as well as the machines themselves had to be lifted from the parallel running access road above the sheet pile wall onto the work platform; an endeavour that was complicated by the safety precautions that had to be taken by virtue of operating near high voltage masts. Moreover, massive obstacles, often large granite boulders, made our drill works more difficult than anticipated. Despite a tight schedule we were able to complete our works within the deadline and to the satisfaction of the client.
